Her background is deeply rooted in the highly distinctive playing style of the specific repertoire of traditional tunes for the Hardanger fiddle. On this basis she composes and performs her own music, solo, with her trio, Slagr, or with other ensembles. She is currently working on her own solo material for Hardanger fiddle, viola d’amore and medieval vielle in a concert production called Draumsyn, with light design and scenography. ELEONORE BILLY (France) – NYCKELHARPA www.eleonore-billy.com While studying violin-playing, on both a classical and traditional basis, Eleonore discovered Swedish music and the nyckelharpa which flamed up a new passion! She then left to Sweden and studied at the Eric Sahlström Institut where she found out more about the music, the dancing, the language, the art of instrument-making. The knowledge she acquired and the people she met there turned out such a fulfilling experience that today, with the help of the instrument, she aims to spread this musical culture. Yet she doesn't limit herself to this one genre and explores a large variety of musical worlds (rock, baroque, improvisation...) by playing with musicians from different backgrounds. This enables her to keep a constant good look ahead. SIGRUN ENG (Norway) - CELLO www.sigruneng.com |
